ABOUT US
The Probation Department operates four (4) field service offices, two (2) Adult
Probation Report and Resource Centers (PRRCs), one (1) Juvenile Hall, and one (1)
Boys Camp. The Administrative Office is located at 117 East Carrillo Street, Santa
Barbara CA 93101.
The Department’s Fiscal Year (FY) 2019-20 operating budget funds 338.5
positions. The FY 2019-20 adopted operating budget is $61,483,000. Sixty-nine
percent (69%) of the Department's personnel are deputized and have peace
officer powers. The Chief Probation Officer has the overall responsibility for the
Department and is appointed by the judge of the Juvenile Court, per Section
(§)270 of the Welfare and Institutions Code. There are three (3) sworn Deputy
Chief Probation Officers and each is responsible for operations of a specific
divisional area: Adult Services, Juvenile Services, and Juvenile Institutions. Fiscal,
Information Technology, Revenue Recovery Unit, the Professional Standards Unit,
and support services are under the oversight of the Administrative Deputy
Director.
